Dog House
Mercer Union Gallery in Toronto, ON invited designers and artists to create works for a fund-raising auction based on the theme of Better Living. Dog House is a fur coat that was turned inside, had had its lining, padding and interfacing removed to reveal its structure. It became a different type of garment, with the seams, instructional markings, and skin on the outside; the aesthetic emphasis changed and it became a marvel of craftsmanship and a different type of decadence. The coat was purchased by an architect who wears it occasionally.
